Stuff about MarioKart

MarioKart for the Wii is almost here! They are releasing the game in Europe on April 11th. I haven't been able to find a US release date yet but I'm guessing it's not too far after that.

It looks pretty dope. There will be a Wii Wheel to drive with and you can play up to 12 players online.

I'll definitely be getting this when it comes out. That might be the death knell for my MarioKart N64 game (which is the best video game of all time, hands down)

It's posted as Q2, and being that Japan and Europe are already set for April 10 and 11, it shouldn't come much after that, and definitely won't be pushed back any more Qs.

As for the wheel, you do not have to use it. You can use the nunchuk, the classic controller, or even a gamecube controller, however, it documents which controller you used when you get a high score etc. Apparently, it takes a lot to get used to the wheel, but all the testers said that it is the best option and is so worth figuring out.

With regards to the N64 game, yes it is still the best, but thats mainly because it was so simple and straight forward. In this new game, 16 courses are brand new, but there are also 16 courses that are taken from all the other Karts, including DS, SNES, and N64. Out of the 8 old-school courses that were revealed, 2 were from the N64 game, suggesting that 2 more will be from the other 8 that we don't know yet. Those two are: Mario Raceway and Sherbet Land. I personally love Sherbet, but I really hope that the Boardwalk and/or yoshi's valley are in there. Obviously I would say the beach, but they already announced that Peach Beach from gamecube will be in it.

So thats my two cents on this game. It will be unreal and the online aspect will truly put this game above the rest.

Hey man,

Found out some interesting things today that I figured you would enjoy. First and foremost, the US release date is April 27. That has been out for a few weeks now, but I wasn't sure if you knew.

So the guys at IGN finally got their hands on the game and have been playing it and reviewing it a lot. Here are a few articles that you will like.

This first one is a review of the first 8 races (2 cups). They will be doign the other 2 cups next week.

This second one is a review from a guy at IGN, giving some interesting insight on the game. He seems to really like the gamecube/classic controller better than the Wii controller. Thinking about it, I feel like I am going to agree. There is too much to deal with when you are trying to go back and forth with the Wii controller. When I play Kart, I want to be able to move my arms around and get into it.

HOWEVER, I will still definitely give it a go for a long time once I get my hands on this game.

They still aren't allowed to review the online version, but 12 players is going to ruin my life. I'll drop you my Wii number when it comes out and we can get a few races in.

PS. take a look at the videos. Some are pretty good.
